Age: 19
Sex: Male
Race: Half-Japanese, Half-British
Birthday: May 5th
Height: 5"4
Weight: 131 lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Amber – closer to a yellow-gold mixture
Build: Between slim and muscular
Orientation: Homosexual

Astrological Sign: Taurus
Family: Father; living but cares nothing of him, Mother; deceased, Half-Sister; currently has no knowledge of her
Status: Wealthy; living off of inheritance while working as a novelist in his spare time.

Background Summary: All through his childhood, Rion was either ignored by those around him or mistreated by those he trusted. Because of an incident with his tutor, he ended up developing a violent split-personality that he used to have difficulty suppressing -- one that would go as far as murdering others out of pure boredom. He knew nothing of any of the behaviors his 'other-self' exhibited.

Raised by his friend's homestay family when he was 13, due to his mother mysteriously disappearing, Rion barely spoke with anyone, besides that friend and another girl who forced herself into his life. At 17, he continued his education in Japan, where he eventually fell for another male in his dorm. Currently, at 19, he and that male are living in a Kyoto apartment together. During this entire time, any flare-ups of his 'other-self' have been contained; or, at least they haven't been anywhere near the other male he lives with.

Personality: Rion tends to have a highly sarcastic and indifferent nature with people he doesn't know or doesn't care about (which is pretty much everyone he comes in contact with). Even so, he feels inclined to help people out, if possible (and if it doesn't end up being too much of a nuisance to himself). He may also come off as quiet, saying very little to people who don't say much themselves. He'll say far less to anyone who confuses him for a girl on a repeated basis.

He's a big worrier and, because of the very few ties he has, tends to talk slowly around people he cares about -- wanting to choose his words carefully and make sure it won't end in any sort of upset. If he feels the person he's speaking with isn't the type to run around, spreading rumors, he might end up rambling on about a piece of his past, or even let out the fact that he's gay. He also has a tendency to apologize, worry, or put himself down when none of it is necessary.

Full Background: (text made smaller to cut down on scrolling) Rion is the son of a famous Japanese authoress and a British scientist and was born in Liverpool, England. His father was never present in his life, as he was sent to Japan to work on various scientific studies and simply never returned, and his mother never paid much attention to him, claiming to be too busy to run around pampering the boy further than he already was. He was simply given whatever a young boy would want, displayed to friends of the family like some sort of trophy, and left alone in his room. He wasn’t allowed to associate himself with the other children in his area and he certainly wasn’t allowed to go outside unless heavily supervised. His mother refused to send him to a normal school, public or private, and instead opted to have a home tutor come and teach him everything he needed to know. For the time being, the only person he trusted and looked up to was his tutor – the only person who would actively talk to him and praise him when he did something correctly. He thought that this was the way things were for everyone else – everyone was locked away through childhood, but once they got old enough, they’d be able to talk with other people their age and have friends.

He clung to this idea until he reached twelve years of age, when his tutor suddenly and without warning attempted to rape him. He didn’t get as far as to getting Rion’s clothing off, being that Rion’s mother had just come back from a little outing and caught the event before it got too far, but the damage was already done. The image of the only person he had to look up to was completely destroyed and it broke him inside. Because of what had happened, he was hospitalized … and it was there that his life would continue to spiral down into self-destruction.

Are you lonely? I’ll take care of you … you don’t have to worry about anyone or anything … let me make it all go away …

A voice in his mind – Rion called it ‘Nii-san’, the Japanese term for ‘brother’. Nii-san had harsh, somewhat violent ideas for how Rion could get back at the world for leaving him alone – however, even though Nii-san’s ideas were frightening to him, Rion would still talk to Nii-san, and he always felt better after he did. No dosage of medication and no amount of therapy could make Nii-san’s voice disappear from Rion’s mind. It was firmly instilled – almost as if Nii-san’s presence was there from the start, but had simply not ‘awakened’ until that moment.

After being released from the hospital a few months before he turned thirteen, Rion was sent to a normal public school. Not used to being around people his own age OR being spoken to so often, Rion felt that anyone who spoke to him was his friend … or at least wanted to be. So, when some of the ruder, pushier boys in his class decided to make fun of him and ask him if he was gay (because of his almost-shoulder-length hair), he responded truthfully, openly, and with a smile on his face, as he knew exactly what the term they were using meant and how it applied to him.

And right after that moment, his life in school became a living hell.

He was beaten, shunned by his classmates who had the idea that if they touched him that they’d end up being gay too, and called all sorts of names. Since his mother never made an effort to ask him how his day went at school or anything like that, she never knew a thing about it – this became a problem that Rion could only deal with by himself … until a new girl transferred into the school.

Ro Mamoudo, a Japanese transfer student, almost immediately took a liking to Rion, simply because he was at least half-Japanese and spoke the language fluently. Because of what had happened with the other children in the class, Rion was extremely hesitant to be friendly with this girl, but she was always around and always there.

The hitting problem she had was something he could’ve done without, but regardless, Ro was a voice with a face that he could speak with – not like Nii-san, who was speaking to him less and less frequently. Ro was slowly replacing Nii-san and it's need in Rion’s life. He felt as if he didn’t need anything else – he had Ro, and one day, he’d have someone else who’d love him and treat him with much more respect than Ro was giving him.

On his thirteenth birthday, Rion’s mother never returned home. Even though Ro’s homestay family took him in and was actively taking care of him, Rion was becoming more and more depressed. He had always wanted his mother to look at him with admiration and respect, but now … she was gone. Gone forever? He didn’t know. He didn’t care. All he knew was that right at this moment, she was no longer present in his life.

That’s when Nii-san became more than just a voice in his head. If Rion became felt too alone, Nii-san would attempt to take control of Rion’s mind and body … and usually would be successful. He would lash out at anyone and everyone, except people who meant a lot to Rion. Those people had another poison reserved for them – a nice, long session of mind games. However, Rion never knew about this. He’d only remember feeling a certain way, suddenly blacking out, and then waking up later and wondering why people were either mad at him or confused. Ro knew about Nii-san but kept it a secret from Rion, figuring it’d be best if he didn’t know that he had a split-personality.

Some years passed. At the age of fifteen, another girl forced herself into his life – Anna Rundae. She was a very hyperactive and nosy girl who had taken a strong liking to Rion, mainly due to his aura of ‘mystery’. She also forced herself into Ro’s life, as the other girl was acting like some sort of bodyguard to the almost mute Rion. Through her annoyance tactics, Rion eventually started talking more and more, developing quite a sarcastic and blunt personality because of the girl’s persistent nature.

Anna would constantly drag both Rion and Ro out on 'investigations' to search for anything that could possibly be considered 'mysterious' or at least 'odd'. Eventually, those searches became outings to find clues that could lead to the truth behind the disappearance of Rion's mother, who was never found and simply declared dead. However, no matter where they looked or for how long, they always came up with nothing.

At the age of seventeen, Rion flew out to Japan to finish his high school education there. On the side, he tried to search for his mother, but to no avail -- the woman wasn't around and certainly wouldn't be making some sort of magical appearance anytime soon. During his stay at that school's dorm, Rion met with Tsukai Kainen -- a very quiet boy who clearly wasn't used to being around many people at once. Originally, Rion was curious as to why the boy always seemed so down and why he was so silent, so he set a goal for himself while staying there -- "At least once, I'll make him smile."

What happened instead? Rion fell in love with him. The two stuck by each other through any rough spots they went through, clearly showing strong feelings for each other (even if Tsukai didn't truly realize it at the time). During that time, the inheritance left over for him by his mother was finally put under his name ... all 26 billion british notes of it. However, even with all of this, it didn't take long for Rion to slide down another depressive streak.

Eventually, Rion felt that he was worthless; that he couldn't protect Tsukai if he ever needed to (since the boy was no taller than 4"11 at the time) and that eventually, Tsukai would get annoyed with his constant worrying and general stupidity. So, without warning, the boy picked up and left for Kyoto, leaving nothing but a note behind. He felt absolutely horrible about it at first, but a nagging voice in the back of his head told him that he was doing the right thing. And Rion always believed that Nii-san knew what was the right thing to do.

Two years later, after hiding himself away for so long, Rion finally returned to the dorm he ran from, since Tsukai's sister had called him and several others out there. There, he came across Tsukai once more ... and even though the other boy's feelings had been locked away and changed, Rion still wanted to try putting things back the way they were. And thankfully for him, Tsukai gave him the opportunity to do so.

After tending to the business he had been called out to do, Tsukai moved in with Rion back in Kyoto. While the other male had yet to admit any sort of romantic feeling or anything of the sort for him, Rion still felt that deep down, Tsukai wanted to stay with him just as much as he wanted to stay with Tsukai. And for him, that was good enough.

For the present time, Rion simply spends his days living alongside Tsukai, attempting to finish off some of his story ideas and working at all sorts of odd hours of the night. For now, all he has is a simple life, and for now, that's all he wants.
